The Goddess “Kataka Chandi” is the dominatingdeity not only in
Cuttack City or Orissa, but also in other parts of India and
abroad. The Temple provides free darshan and puja to thousands
of devotees/visitors every day. On festive occasions, the
numbers of devotees/visitors increase considerably. The temple
administration provides sufficient water taps at three different
places to facilitate washing of feet and hands etc. by the
devotees before entering to the Temple. The Temple promises is
kept neat and clean round the clock by washing the floor of the
inside and outside the Temple twice daily. Bleaching powder is
spreand in the drains daily to avert the nasty and unhygienic
situation in the Temple promises. Two bhog, two deep and one
flower shops have been set up in the Temple promises to cater to
the needs of the devotees for offering of the bhog, deep and
flower to the deity. An office is functioning from the early
morning till the mid-night to keep liaison with the devotees and
to assist them, if necessary, in visiting the Temple and for
performance of the puja etc. to the deity.
A number of families perform marriage and marriage “Nirbandha”
thread ceremonies and some other social and religious ceremonies
in the Temple and Temple premises throughout the year with the
co-operation and assistance of the Temple administration. Poor
feeding is arranged on specific days, when a number of beggars,
leprosy persons and other poor people are served with “Prasad”
prepared in the Temple.
